Now that you know how to create an infinite scrollling background, why not double the fun? That is, place two scrolling backgrounds in your movie (download the FLA).
You could do this with two completely different movie clips -- for example (1) sky and (2) landscape. But here I duplicated the first movie clip in the Library and modified it in a couple of ways. One thing you can do to make the two moving backgrounds look more interesting is make the timeline inside each movie clip a different length. That way they are not moving in sync with each other, and you create an impression of depth. There's a special trick to making this work really well: prime numbers.* If you not only vary the length of the timelines for your simultaneously scrolling movie clips BUT ALSO make sure that each movie clip timeline ends on a prime number frame, they will never sync up. Sweet!
Slightly more complexity here, but still, it's just two movie clips looping infinitely (download the FLA). *The prime numbers idea comes from Flash Hacks, by Sham Bhangal. |
